Neck pain is one of the most common of complaints. However it is one of the easiest problems to treat using DMR therapy. Its apparent causes are described as pinched nerves, disc problems or abnormalities in the vertebrae such as spurs, calcification or stenosis. Although these factors may be present, the pain usually originates in the muscle or fascia (the tissue that surrounds the muscles). For this reason this type of pain is much easier to eliminate than normally believed.
Tension in the neck is also the source of most headaches and “migraines”. Trigger points in the muscles and fascia that surround them often cause this muscle tension. If these factors are not taken into account, treatments often have little success and many people suffer for years with neck pain or headaches that can be easily resolved.
Stiff, binding fascia can be easily transformed simply by stretching it in the correct manner and muscles are normally able to release with the techniques developed for DMR therapy. Releasing the tension and stretching the fascia is normally the most effective approach. Migraines, severe headaches or neck pain, are almost always eliminated or diminished greatly by working very, very deep into the tissue, especially where the muscle attaches to the base of the scull or the neck to release the tension in the tendons.
